Unlawful Use of a Motor Vehicle, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Evade and Assault Police - Labrador

Police have arrested a man after a stolen vehicle was allegedly driven in a dangerous manner, before evading police, at Labrador last night.

It will be alleged that around 8.30pm, officers sighted a stolen white 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander speeding through a red light at Stevens Street, Southport.

Officers attempted to intercept the vehicle, however it will be alleged that the vehicle evaded police.

PolAir tracked the vehicle, which was allegedly overtaking on the wrong side of the road at speed, to Marine Parade at Labrador where officers successfully deployed 'stingers'.

The vehicle came to a halt at Frank Street where the male driver exited the vehicle, before allegedly assaulting a 44-year-old dog-squad officer.

The driver was restrained and taken into custody.

The officer sustained a torn pectoral muscle and was transported to Pindarra Hospital in a stable condition.

A 25-year-old Yamba man was arrested and transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital suffering suspected intoxication.

Investigations continue.
