Update: Appeal on Pinjar's Western Power Infrastructure Damage

State Security Investigation Group detectives continue to seek information regarding an incident in Pinjar that resulted in a Western Power transmission tower being significantly damaged and collapsing, causing temporary power disruptions being detected on Thursday 20 April 2023.
At an unknown time, believed to be on or in the days leading up to Thursday 20 April 2023, unknown person(s) have tampered with the structural integrity of the tower causing it to fall to the ground.
The incident caused a temporary power supply interruption to a small number of industrial customers.
The damage was reported to police by Western Power.
Further to information previously released, detectives now believe the incident may be linked to another damage incident that occurred in the same location at the time. A wooden power pole on Wandoo Road, near the collapsed tower, was pulled down and dragged in a northerly direction for about a kilometre. It is likely this would have required a four-wheel-drive vehicle.
Anyone who observed or who has vision of any vehicles or individuals in the vicinity of Buloke Road, Wandoo Road and Skink Road, between 1 April and 20 April 2023, is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report the information online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au.
