Update regarding death on Waiheke Island

As stated by Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Allan, Auckland City CIB:

Police can now provide an update into an investigation into a sudden death near Waiheke Island last month.

Lee Perry was located deceased in the water on Wednesday 15 November and Police had been treating the death as unexplained while enquiries were ongoing.

We can now confirm we are not currently treating the death of Mr Perry as suspicious and are making enquiries on behalf of the Coroner.

An investigation on the circumstances around Mr Perry's vehicle and how it came to become crashed and burnt-out remains ongoing, however Police are treating this, and his death, as two separate incidents.

Mr Perry's family has been advised of this development and they are continuing to be supported by Victim Support.
