Updated Cross Border Travel Associated Direction, South Australia

The Emergency Management (Cross Border Travel—Associated Direction No 38) COVID-19) Direction 2021 has been revoked and replaced by the Emergency Management (Cross Border Travel—Associated Direction No 39) (COVID-19) (COVID-19) Direction 2021. This comes into effect at 2.30 pm on 8 August 2021.

Travellers arriving from the state of Queensland will be subject to Level 6 requirements and are prohibited from entering South Australia unless the person is a permitted arrival or essential traveller.

Permitted Arrivals and Essential Travellers are subject to Level 4 requirements:

  • COVID-19 test on day 1, 5, & 13.
  • Self-quarantine for 14 days.
  • Must wear a face mask (covering mouth and nose) at any time that they come into contact with the public for a period of 14 days after their arrival in SA.

If travelling by road, permitted arrivals and essential travellers are only permitted to enter on prescribed roads being the Birdsville Track, Maree or the Barrier Highway, Oodla Wirra (excluding commercial transport and freight operators).

Note: Travellers who have not been in Greater Brisbane, Cairns or Yarrabah Local Government Areas in the past 14 days can enter South Australia under Level 3 requirements until 11:59pm tonight.
