Updates to COVID-19 Directions 21 May 2021, South Australia

The Cross Border-Associated Direction and the Residential Aged Care Direction have been updated in South Australia.

The Cross Border-Associated Direction No 11 comes into effect at 12:01 am Saturday 22 May 2021.

The changes are:

Victorian arrivals- no longer have any COVID-19 testing, quarantine or entry restrictions.

Overseas arrivals are still required to comply with the following restrictions:

  • Overseas arrivals-(except New Zealand arrivals) must continue to comply with level 5 requirements.

This Direction should be read in conjunction with the Emergency Management (Cross Border Travel-General)(COVID-19) Direction 2021.

The Residential Aged Care Facilities No 36 Direction came into effect at 1:25 pm Friday 21 May 2021.

The changes are:

  • A person who has not received the 2021 influenza vaccination since the 1 June 2021 due to observing the recommended waiting period between the COVID-19 and influenza vaccine is permitted to enter the Residential Aged Care Facility if they provide evidence of the date of receipt of the COVID-19 to the facility. The person must also take all reasonable steps to ensure that they receive the influenza vaccine as soon possible.
  • All employees, contractors and volunteers of a Residential Aged Care Facility must notify the operator of the facility of any COVID-19 vaccination they have received if the vaccination was not conducted onsite or by the facility.
  • The operator of the facility must now:
    • Include in its Workforce Management Plan the requirement of employees, contractors and volunteers to report to them their COVID-19 vaccination;
    • Maintain records of any COVID-19 vaccinations received by employees, contractors and volunteers at the facility; and
    • Facilities may make their own amendments to the approved COVID-19 Infection Control Plan without seeking approval (subject to contrary direction). But, if directed, must implement the COVID-19 Infection Control Plan approved by SA Health within 48 hours.

The Emergency Management (Cross Border Travel – Associated Direction No 10)(COVID-19) Direction 2021 has been revoked and replaced by the Emergency Management (Cross Border Travel – Associated Direction No 11)(COVID-19) Direction 2021. The Emergency Management (Residential Aged Care Facilities No 35)(COVID-19) Direction 2021 has been revoked and replaced by the Emergency Management (Residential Aged Care Facilities No 36)(COVID-19) Direction 2021.
