Upgrades have been locked in for another sportsground in the Camden area, after Council accepted a tender for works to Hayter Reserve at last night's ordinary meeting.
Home of the Camden Lions Rugby Club, Hayter Reserve in Camden South will receive a $340,000 upgrade funded by Council's Community Support Package, with works including:
- Installation of a new irrigation system for two fields with provision for extension in the future;
- Expansion of the irrigation storage with a new concrete tank and connection to existing tank;
- New housing shed and fencing; and
- New irrigation controls and pump systems.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said the upgrades will benefit local rugby players and residents for years to come.
"Council is committed to improving its current sports grounds whilst also working on new facilities across the Camden area," Cr Fedeli said.
"These upgrades will go a long way to maintaining the facilities at Hayter Reserve and help keep players on the field training and playing.
"I look forward to seeing the completed works and locals enjoying the facility for many years."
The upgrades follow Council receiving $14 million in WestInvest funding from the NSW Government recently for the Cut Hill Reserve Sports Field Redevelopment project that will renew 18.5 hectares of public open space to deliver new recreation opportunities.
