PITTSBURGH - UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh today celebrated the expansion of its outpatient therapy network with the transition of the Washington and McMurray therapy centers to UPMC Children's Rehabilitation Therapies, further strengthening access to specialized pediatric care across the region.
Effective June 1, the locations will formally operate as part of UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, bringing enhanced resources, deeper clinical collaboration and expanded opportunities for patients and families to access nationally recognized pediatric rehabilitation services.
"This is an exciting milestone for the families we serve across Washington County," said Diane Hupp, president, UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. "By bringing these locations fully into UPMC Children's Rehabilitation Therapies, we are strengthening the connections to our nationally ranked pediatric specialty care while ensuring children and families can continue to receive high-quality, compassionate care close to home."
The transition will not impact patient access or continuity of care. Families will continue to see the same trusted therapists, at the same convenient locations, with the added benefit of access to expanded pediatric specialty resources.
UPMC Children's services are made accessible throughout the communities UPMC serves, connecting its nationally ranked specialists with community-based care sites. By continuously evaluating local health needs, the right services are brought closer to home - ensuring families can access highly specialized pediatric care without traveling far
"Families in our community rely on these services every day, and this transition reinforces our shared commitment to meeting their needs," said Brook Ward, president, UPMC Washington and UPMC Greene. "Through our partnership with UPMC Children's, we are enhancing access to specialized care and bringing even greater resources and expertise to the patients and families we serve locally."
This builds on UPMC Children's growing presence in the Washington and Greene county area, where services have continued to evolve to meet community needs. UPMC Children's Express Care and UPMC Children's Specialty Care, which includes physical medicine and rehabilitation and orthopaedics are already established locally. Additionally, UPMC Washington and UPMC Greene provide local emergency department care backed by UPMC Children's pediatric specialists, so kids get the right care close to home without delays. Bringing UPMC Children's Rehabilitation Therapies to Washington and McMurray further strengthens access to coordinated, high-quality pediatric services locally.
UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh is nationally ranked and recognized for excellence across pediatric specialties, and this expansion reflects its ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality, family-centered care to communities throughout western Pennsylvania.
