With more than seven million Australian adults now living with high blood pressure and control rates still well short of the national target, the National Hypertension Taskforce has called for intensified action on prevention, detection and treatment, with a particular focus on those hit hardest.
"Hypertension is highly treatable, and improving blood pressure control could save thousands of lives while delivering major health and economic benefits for Australia.
