Today, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) announced three new agreements at Global Summit 2023: Innovation and Investment for Governments, co-hosted by USAID and Draper University on May 4-5.
The first agreement, between USAID and Draper University, will establish a strategic and transformative partnership aimed at driving global innovation and entrepreneurship that empowers marginalized communities, promoting women's empowerment, and addressing global challenges through the development of innovative and sustainable business ventures.
In the second partnership, USAID and the Society for International Development will advance shared diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility goals through information sharing. It will also increase and diversify the talent pool of professionals working in humanitarian assistance and international development through engagement with under-represented communities in the United States.
The third agreement between USAID and the Office of HBCU Development & International Collaboration, Inc. provides a framework to engage students, faculty, researchers, and administrators associated with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) with USAID to expand their knowledge in the international development field.
These partnerships advance USAID's Progress Beyond Programs agenda within USAID's Policy Framework through building new partnerships that advance collaboration, leveraging our resources for greater impact, and creating lasting change that reduces the need for foreign assistance. The MOUs also affirm the Biden-Harris Administration's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility, and they advance the Agency's initiatives under Executive Order (E.O.) 14091 Further Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities through the Federal Government and E.O. 14035 Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility in the Federal Workforce.
