UTR Pro Tennis Tour Debuts in Wagga Wagga, 2026

Local tennis fans can enjoy their own piece of the Summer of Tennis this week as Wagga Wagga prepares to host a Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) Pro Tennis Tour event at the Jim Elphick Tennis Centre, 5 – 11 January 2026.

The tournament marks the first UTR Pro Tennis Tour event to be held anywhere in Australia on the 2026 global calendar, placing Wagga Wagga firmly on the international tennis map.

The UTR Pro Tennis Tour is a globally recognised professional tennis series that provides competitive opportunities for emerging and established players to earn prize money and improve their Universal Tennis Rating (UTR).

Bringing the tour to Wagga Wagga represents a significant milestone for regional tennis and highlights the city's growing reputation as a destination for high-quality sporting events.

The tournament will attract professional players from Australia and overseas, offering local fans a rare opportunity to witness elite-level tennis up close at the Jim Elphick Tennis Centre.

Wagga Leisure Tennis Team Leader Jade Culph said hosting this event is another big sporting achievement for the city.

"Hosting the first UTR Pro Tennis Tour event in Australia for 2026 is an exciting moment for tennis in Wagga Wagga and for regional New South Wales," Mr Culph said.

"This is the second pro-level tennis tournament to be held at the Jim Elphick Tennis Centre since it re-opened in April 2025, less than a year ago.

"It's a major achievement to host events such as this and it reflects the quality of our facilities and the strength of our local tennis community."

The event is expected to deliver strong economic and community benefits, including increased visitation, tourism, and engagement with grassroots tennis.

It will also provide inspiration and pathways for aspiring junior players across the Riverina region.

"Having an international-standard professional tournament in our city creates incredible opportunities for players, coaches, volunteers, and fans alike," Jade Culph said,

"It shows that world-class tennis isn't limited to capital cities."
