Victoria Uni, MUFG Partner to Boost Jobs, Skills, AI

Victoria University (VU) and MUFG Retirement Solutions, a division of MUFG Pension & Market Services, have today announced a strategic partnership to supercharge job pathways for students and boost workforce capability through ongoing professional development for employees in a fast-evolving financial services sector.

The organisations have signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to connect students with real-world industry experience while supporting continuous learning and upskilling for employees within MUFG Retirement Solutions, one of Australia's leading administration and technology providers to the superannuation industry.

Partnership initiatives include:

  • Training, certification and professional development opportunities for MUFG Retirement Solutions employees in areas such as financial advice, cyber security, AI and emerging technologies
  • Student placements and project-based learning in disciplines such as business, accounting, financial planning, IT, cyber security, AI, law and project management
  • Research projects in AI, data analytics, automation, human‑centred design, digital equity and technology accessibility
  • Pathways into casual, flexible work whilst studying, plus internships and graduate employment
  • Industry learning experiences for students including major projects and hackathons
  • The potential to utilise VU's City Tower campus as part of the 'flipped campus' model.

VU Vice-Chancellor Professor Adam Shoemaker said he was excited about the opportunities the agreement will create for both organisations.

"This partnership represents a significant new step in supporting VU's commitment to lifelong learning, industry collaboration and innovative research," Professor Shoemaker said.

"It will give students invaluable exposure to industry knowledge, practical experience and emerging workforce trends across a range of disciplines. Importantly, this partnership also opens up pathways for students at our new campus in India, helping them build connections with global industry and creating direct links into employment," Professor Shoemaker said.
