Victorian builder Chatham Homes won the HIA Australian GreenSmart Display / Project Home award at the prestigious 2022 Housing Industry Association (HIA) Australian GreenSmart Awards announced Thursday 15 September.
The stylish Blackwood design by Chatham Homes represents the benchmark of energy-efficient display homes. Located in the cold climate of Ballarat, the family-friendly home achieves an exceptional 8.2-star NatHERS energy rating. GreenSmart Display / Project Home is partnered by The Australian Reinforcing Company.
The judges were impressed by the standard of construction to achieve a comfortable home year-round with minimal energy consumption. "Thermal performance of the windows minimise air movement and limit heat gain and loss contributing to the superior performance of the home," they commented.
"Material choice reflects the overall high quality of construction and demonstrate a passion for sustainable building."
New South Wales sustainable builder Blue Eco Homes won three awards including the highest accolade - the 2022 HIA Australian GreenSmart Home for a low-impact, environmentally and ecologically considerate development that integrates architectural expression with sustainable building practices. The home was also awarded the HIA Australian GreenSmart Custom Built Home, partnered by COLORBOND steel. Blue Eco Homes' Joe Mercieca also won HIA Australian GreenSmart Professional, partnered by HIA Insurance Services.
