VIPER impound

Officers from VIPER Taskforce have impounded a Harley-Davidson motorcycle following a routine intercept in Thomastown on Wednesday night.

Police first noticed the bike being ridden by an alleged patched member of the Rebels outlaw motorcycle club on the Ring Road at Keilor East about 7.30pm on 14 June.

The bike was intercepted on Edgars Road and the rider, a 36-year-old man from Thomastown, spoken to by police.

The bike, which allegedly belongs to an associate, was found to be unregistered and was impounded at costs of $846.10.

The rider is expected to be charged on summons for use unregistered motor vehicle and drive unlicensed.

The VIPER Taskforce is a tactical and investigative unit based within Crime Command focused on preventing, detecting, deterring, disrupting and dismantling the criminal activities of groups such as outlaw motorcycle gangs, organised crime networks and street gangs.

The taskforce, which commenced in July 2022, supports the work of specialist investigation units and regional police by providing further resources to assist with investigation tactics and enforcement actions.
