WA-JACET team arrest

A 44-year-old Utakarra man accused of using social media to have sexually explicit conversations with a young girl is due to next face the Geraldton Magistrates Court on 28 January 2021.

It is alleged in December 2020 the man made contact via a social media 'chat' application with a person he believed was a 14-year-old girl and had conversations of a sexually explicit nature and sent video of himself committing an indecent act.

WA-JACET team detectives with the assistance of Geraldton Detectives arrested the man on 15 December 2020.

The 44-year-old man has been charged with:-

• Intent to Expose a Person Believed to be under 16 years to Indecent Matter; and

• Intent to Procure a Person Believed to be under 16 years to Engage in Sexual Activity.

The maximum penalty for these offences is 5 years' imprisonment.
