Celebrating the Best in Baking - 2025 Perth Royal Food Awards
In what's been one of the coldest winters we've seen in the West, local producers were up very early on Wednesday morning testing their skills at the Perth Royal Food Awards.
The team at Miami Bakehouse is one that has fired up the ovens and their determination to showcase WA produce. Using WA flour, milk, cream and a range of Southwest raised meats in its products, Miami has proudly brought home multiple awards from this year's judging.
During competition day, expert judges thoroughly assessed bread and pastry entries on key criteria such as appearance, aroma, texture, taste and overall quality and skills of the bakers.
There were more than 100 entrants, and the awards were announced on Wednesday evening.
The competition showcases the best of Western Australia's food producers, and the Miami Bakehouse team is thrilled to be recognised alongside so many outstanding local talents.
Gold Medals and Standout Wins
Miami's bakers brought their A-game, to win the Champion Commercial Bread and the Most Successful Pastry Exhibitor awards. With the team taking home five golds and four category trophies, they are delighted with this year's results.
"We're thankful for our incredible team and loyal customers. Every competition is a chance to refine our recipes and techniques, allowing our customers to be the real winners, as these end up in our products and recipes for all our customers to enjoy," said David Palmer, co-owner of Miami Bakehouse.
"We're also very proud of our second year Apprentice Nicola Ellis who took out Most Successful Apprentice Exhibitor and Champion Loaf Exhibited by an Apprentice for the second time.
"Seeing a young apprentice earn top recognition two years in a row, so early in their career is exactly why we invest in hands-on training."
