V/Line strikes on the horizon while Transport Minister is "asleep at the wheel"

More wheels are falling off Victoria's transport system, with V/Line commuters set to be hit by industrial action.

This comes after rolling strikes have hit Melbourne's tram network, and the lingering threat of a Melbourne-wide train strike later this year.

Regional rail has become a disaster under embattled Transport Minister Melissa Horne, who is "asleep at the wheel" according to union leader Luba Grigorovich.

But it's V/Line passengers who are the ones affected by Labor's rail fail, with delays and cancellations every day.

Customer satisfaction with V/Line has hit a 10-year low, with key train lines failing to meet their monthly punctuality targets.

With the prospect of rolling strikes of up to 48 hours on V/Line's busiest train lines, it's time for Daniel Andrews to sideline his embattled Transport Minister and ensure these strikes don't go ahead.

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Industrial Relations, Nick Wakeling:

"Labor's message to regional Victorians is if there's a threatened strike, 'it will go ahead and we don't care.'

"Victorians want leadership, they want action, they want this matter to be fixed, and they don't want to see a V/Line strike.

"Regional Victorians who rely on V/Line services are being left in the lurch by Daniel Andrews and from his actions to date, he simply doesn't care."
