Twenty-nine schools across Western Australia will share in more than $112,000 in grants to fund initiatives that will help avoid and recover waste.
More than $112,000 has been awarded to 29 schools under the WasteSorted Schools grants program to do better than the bin.
The WasteSorted Schools program provides funding to facilitate waste education and provide infrastructure in schools to improve waste avoidance, resource recovery, and hands-on learning experiences.
Recipients will use the funds for a range of projects including:
- compost systems, worm farms and chicken coops, to recycle garden organics and food scraps
- setting up vegetable gardens, to close the loop on organic recycling
- recycling bins and signage, including Containers for Change collections
- paper briquette makers
Up to $5,500 per school is available. The next grant funding round is currently open and closes on 5 August 2025.
