Weapons charges, Carina and Spring Hill

Police have charged a man with weapons and drug offences following investigations into a shooting incident in Carina in April.

Around 6.00am on Sunday April 24 the man allegedly discharged a firearm in the direction of a man and woman known to him along Adelaide Street, Carina.

The pair were not physically injured in the incident and the man fled the scene in a grey BMW.

Queensland Police established Operation Uniform Perezi and commenced investigations to locate the man.

On Tuesday June 28, detectives from the Upper Mount Gravatt Criminal Investigation Branch tracked the man to a Boronia Heights address where he allegedly threatened police officers from his car with a firearm before fleeing.

He allegedly abandoned the vehicle along Mount Lindesay Highway near Coronation Road, Boronia Heights where the unoccupied vehicle eventually rolled down the road and into an embankment.

The man fled from police on foot while still allegedly threatening officers with a firearm.

At approximately 4.45pm on Thursday July 28, the man was located in a carpark at an inner Brisbane City hotel and taken into custody without incident.

Police executed a number of search warrants throughout the investigation, where they seized firearms, ammunition, dangerous drugs and two stolen vehicles.

A 29-year-old Greater Brisbane man has been charged with 37 offences including nine counts of serious assault police officer, three counts each of possess shortened firearms and possessing dangerous drugs (methamphetamine, cannabis, gamma hydroxybutyric acid), two counts of unlawful possession of weapons and one count each of dangerous conduct with a weapon and going armed so as to cause fear.

He appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Saturday, July 30 and was remanded in custody to re-appear on August 31.
