Weapons charges, Morningside

Police have charged a 27-year-old man after a firearm was allegedly discharged in the carpark of a premises at Morningside.

Around 4.26pm on July 20 police were called to a carpark at the intersection of Redfern Street and Wynnum Road after members of the public reported a man allegedly with a firearm.

Police cordoned off the area taking a man into custody around 5.12pm.

A search of the man's utility parked at the location allegedly located a large machete, handgun and rifle as well as illegal drugs including cocaine, GBL and methylamphetamine.

No one was physically injured in the incident.

A 27-year-old man from Carindale has been charged with one count each of dangerous conduct with a weapon, stealing, possession of a knife in a public place, possess dangerous goods, unlawful possession of weapons and stealing, possessing relevant substances along with two counts each of receiving tainted property and possessing a dangerous drug.

He is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on July 21.
