BATS HANGING AROUND

We've received expert advice that the large numbers of flying foxes in Phillips Gardens are unlikely to remain in the area.

Following an extended period of dry weather deep into autumn, the chatty chaps like our green parks with ample water nearby. As food supplies diminish they are expected to move on.

  • They are protected wildlife and should not be interfered with – penalties apply
  • They eat nectar, pollen, blossom and fruit, and help regenerate native forests
  • They host some diseases which can be transmitted to people and should not be handled

We're designing signage for the Gardens to help our community appreciate this beautiful native species.
