This week has seen extensive rain fall across much of the country, best rain of the year for many locations. The weather system that caused it can be seen departing the country, out to the east, but it won't be the last rain bringer this week.
On Sunday, further patchy showers continue across the south-east, while a powerful cold front will reach Perth by lunchtime bringing rain, hail, thunderstorms, and strong wind.
This front moves through the southern half of WA and into SA on Monday with showers and plenty of hail. Showers ease across the south-east with a further 2-10 mm, and the typical dry season pattern has now returned to the north.
Patchy falls across much of South Australia, New South Wales, and southern Queensland on Tuesday, with a chance of rain in Victoria and Tasmania. Not as much rain as the recent wet weather event, but a nice follow up of 2-10mm over broad areas. This weather system will have some colder air with it, and a good few centimetres of snow in the mountains.
This will clear on Wednesday, although cold winds and patchy showers continue. This means further sporadic and light wet weather for most places south of a line from Perth across to Port Macquarie.
A dry day is anticipated for most of the nation on Thursday. The main threat of rain appears to be eastern Victoria and New South Wales, with some snow showers in the Australian mountains down in that corner as well.
Similar on Friday with showers and cool winds carrying on for the south-east. Some heavier falls or thunderstorms are possible, but we'll have to get closer to the time to confirm the details. A rainband could form over north-east Queensland, and yet another rain-bringing front is just dusting its shoes by the door of the west coast heading into next weekend.
If you'd like more weather information through the week ahead, you can always find the latest through the Bureau's website and the BOM weather app. That's the weather done and dusted for this week, we'll see you again next time.
