Western Australians encouraged to dig deep at Skyworks 2020

  • City of Perth Skyworks 2020 to raise funds for people impacted by bushfires
  • Skyworks 2020 attendees can donate at the event with cash or EFTPOS
  • Western Australians encouraged to donate to authorised bushfire appeals in the lead up to the event
  • Premier Mark McGowan and City of Perth Chair Commissioner Andrew Hammond have announced this year's Australia Day Skyworks will serve as a fundraising event to support those affected by the devastating bushfires.

As part of the City of Perth Australia Day Skyworks, the City is working with event partners to raise awareness and co-ordinate fundraising for the Australian bushfires in the lead up to, and on the day.

Fundraising volunteers will be urging Skyworks attendees to donate on the day via cash or EFTPOS methods to help those in need.

The City will also work with Skyworks partners to recognise the victims of the fires at the event and to come together in solidarity for our mates over east.

Western Australians are urged to donate to existing authorised State-based and national appeals that support the national bushfire disaster relief efforts.

The State Government has provided $710,000 to support Australia Day Skyworks 2020 through Lotterywest.

As stated by Premier Mark McGowan:

"I welcome the City of Perth's effort to turn Skyworks 2020 into a huge fundraising event to support those impacted by the fires.

"As I have said, Western Australia stands ready to support the bushfire relief efforts in any way we can. We know Western Australians love the Skyworks, with hundreds of thousands of people expected to attend.

"The event creates an opportunity for attendees to make a donation to support those in need. The support from the community has been outstanding, and I look forward to seeing Western Australians dig deep as part of Skyworks 2020."

As stated by City of Perth Chair Commissioner Andrew Hammond:

"Our deepest sympathies are with those Australians and their families who continue to be affected by the bushfires in many parts of Australia. We understand the emotional turmoil these fires have caused for the community.

"The City of Perth Skyworks is the biggest Australia Day event in the country. Let us use this event to build community spirit and show our support for our fellow Australians."
