Cessnock City Council is pleased to announce that works have commenced on the Cessnock Regional Skatepark, located at Mount View Park, Cessnock.

Once completed, the skatepark will be the first regional level skate facility in the Cessnock LGA, providing a youth-friendly space to meet the growing needs of young people across the region.

This quality facility will provide a unique rider experience with features that can be used by riders of all skill levels. The works will include the construction of a bowl and transition elements, along with associated infrastructure.

Cessnock City Mayor Jay Suvaal said he was delighted to see this project underway and is looking forward to delivering this quality facility for our community, as well as visitors, to enjoy.

"This will be the fifth skatepark we've delivered for our community and the first regional level facility in the area. I'm sure it will be enjoyed by locals and visitors alike," said Clr Suvaal.

"This project also aims to deliver community infrastructure that's accessible and once complete, will increase opportunities for wheeled sports participants to develop their skills, which is just fantastic."

During construction works, one shelter will be unavailable and temporary fencing will be installed to block off the construction area. Carparking will be retained throughout the project.

Works are scheduled to be completed in November 2024, subject to weather.

This project has been made possible with $1 million in funding from the Australian Government's Investing in our Communities program, along with developer contributions.
