The White House cited the Ohio Cyber Range Institute (OCRI), which is headquartered at the University of Cincinnati, as one of the nation's education and workforce development ecosystems in action as it announced the National Cyber Workforce and Education Strategy.
The National Cyber Workforce and Education Strategy is an approach aimed at addressing immediate and long-term cyber workforce needs. The strategy aims to empower Americans to pursue careers in cyber fields.
In the release of the strategy, the White House recognized education and workforce development programs that are in place, including the OCRI.
The OCRI is a statewide, collaborative network that supports cybersecurity programs across Ohio. The institute's goal is to advance an integrated approach to cybersecurity education, workforce and economic development in cyber-related fields throughout the state.
In July, the OCRI hosted a cybersecurity exercise at UC Digital Futures for the Ohio Cyber Reserve, a volunteer force under the command of the state's adjutant general.
UC also has been at the forefront of Ohio's efforts in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). UC's 1819 Innovation Hub hosted a forum led by Ohio Lt. Gov. Jon Husted, the Ohio | AI Forum: Cincinnati.
During the forum, experts explored the capabilities of AI and discussed how Ohio can prepare for a global innovation economy driven by the constantly evolving technology.
