Win for south australia: collins-class submarine full-cycle dockings to remain at osborne

Senator Rex Patrick

Independent Senator Rex Patrick today welcomed the Morrison Government's belated decision to retain Collins-class submarine full-cycle docking work at the ASC facility at Osborne.

"Transferring FCDs to Western Australia was always a dumb idea", Senator Patrick said.

"Exposing the flawed and politically driven nature of that proposal has been a major task for me since entering the Parliament."

"After years of unnecessary uncertainty, the Government have finally seen reason and decided to do the right thing.

"This is good news for the 700 workers and their families, the small businesses dependent on this work and the annual $400 million economic activity it brings to South Australia.

"Thank you to everyone who supported me in this fight and helped make this happen."
