Witness appeal following Boho pursuit

Police are appealing for public assistance following a pursuit in Boho earlier this month, Victoria Police say.

Benalla Highway Patrol members observed a silver Audi with incorrect number plates on the Hume Freeway, Violet Town about 10.45am on 10 January.

The vehicle was detected travelling at 126km/h but sped up to 180km/h upon seeing police.

A short pursuit was initiated along the freeway, where the car began to overtake other vehicles erratically using the emergency lanes.

The car continued to speed through a road works area before turning into Erreys Road, Boho where the pursuit was terminated for safety reasons.

The Audi was soon seen by police travelling north on Tarnook Road, Baddaginnie.

A short pursuit was again initiated but quickly terminated, with the car reaching speeds of 150km/h.

It was last seen turning onto the Midland Highway, Goomalibee.

The vehicle has been described as a silver A3 Audi with New South Wales registration plates WXJ536.

Police have released an image of a vehicle similar to the one involved in the incident.

No arrests have yet been made and the investigation is ongoing.
