The incredible achievements of our city's young people shows that our future is in safe hands.
This year's Wollongong Youth Week Awards celebrated a range of outstanding young people aged 12 to 24 years who are inspiring their community through their achievements, talents and contributions to society.
The depth and range of their contributions were recognised across seven categories – volunteer, community ambassador, artist, performer, sportsperson, environmentalist and small business.
Amongst the winners include Kyarlee Clulow, a proud Gamilaraay woman who is empowering young people through culture and Mitchell Wilson, a promising landscape and sport photographer who was invited to the 2025 AFL Photography Masterclass.
There was also Hartley Zietsch, a young snowboarder who does not let his medical condition define his limits and Jessica Jayaswal who is using her time at university to inspire sustainable behaviours that will last a lifetime.
"There's a common thread amongst all our Youth Week Awards winners, and that is inspiration," Lord Mayor of Wollongong Councillor Tania Brown said.
"You can choose any of our worthy recipients, and you'll find that they're passionate in what they do and want to bring their community along for that journey.
"Understanding that community is essential for our future, they are sharing their talents and knowledge through volunteering and mentoring – especially with other young people. These are true markings of future leaders and I'm excited to see them grow in Wollongong.
"Thank you to everyone who nominated the wonderful cohort of young people in 2026, it was not easy to select our winners and highly commended. I'm honoured to get to know their stories and celebrate them in front of their peers and loved ones."
