A 46-year-old woman from Liffey has been charged with speeding and high range drink driving after being intercepted by Longford Police yesterday.
Inspector Michael Johnston from Central North Division said police were patrolling the Bass Highway around 6.20pm, when they detected a white Ford Falcon travelling at 131km/h in the 110km/h zone.
"A short time later, police intercepted the driver on Oaks Road at Bracknell where she returned a breath alcohol reading of 0.184."
"At the time, the woman had a child with her in the vehicle."
"The woman was immediately disqualified from driving for two years and was charged and bailed to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court at a later date."
"Driving under the influence and speeding are fatal five offences and not only risk the lives of those in the vehicle, but all road users," said Inspector Johnston.
