Woman dies in crash - Dilkoon, near Grafton, NSW

A woman has died in a crash near Grafton

About 12.50pm yesterday, a Daihatsu station wagon was travelling south on Summerland Way, Dilkoon, when it failed to negotiate a slight right hand bend and left the roadway, NSW Police say.

It struck a tree before falling down an embankment. Witnesses stopped and contacted emergency services.

The driver, a 73-year-old man, and the passenger, a 75-year-old woman were trapped in the vehicle for a period of time, before the man was freed.

The woman died at the scene.

The driver was taken to Lismore Base Hospital with a fractured sternum. He was subject to mandatory blood and urine tests.

Investigators from Far North Coast Crash Investigation Unit attended the scene and conducted inquiries.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Police are urging anyone with information on the incident to call Crime Stoppers.
