Woman Remains In Critical Condition With Burns, TAS

A 20-year-old woman remains in the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne receiving specialist treatment for burns to more than fifty percent of her body following an incident at a Chigwell house on Monday, Tasmania Police say.

The young woman remains in a critical condition in an induced coma.

She will undergo surgery today and is expected to require medical treatment in Melbourne for many months.

Tasmania Police detectives are liaising with medical and police authorities in Melbourne and will travel to Melbourne as required.

An interim family violence order and restraint order have been lodged with the court.

The man accused of causing grievous bodily harm and other matters has been remanded in custody to appear in the Supreme Court on 13 June 2017.  He did not apply for bail.
