Works will soon start to upgrade the Dalmeny Pedestrian Bridge, providing safer visitor access to the popular Dalmeny Beach in Eurobodalla National Park.
NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) Acting Area Manager Brett Evans, said the works include rebuilding sections of the bridge so it continues to provide a safe, accessible pathway to the beach.
"Locals and visitors will be very familiar with the long wooden pedestrian bridge over Lake Mummaga and will have noticed that it is nearing the end of its life," Mr Evans said.
"NPWS is investing $250,000 in maintenance works as the bridge is such a popular access route to the beach and part of the Narooma to Dalmeny Coastal Walk.
"We want to ensure this local landmark continues to provide safe access for many years to come.
"Construction will start from early September and the scale of works mean that the bridge will be closed during construction.
"Weather permitting, we hope to re-open the bridge in November.
"Visitors wanting to access Dalmeny Beach and this part of Eurobodalla National Park can do so via Brou-Dalmeny Beach," said Mr Evans.
This project to upgrade the bridge will improve access to the beach and is part of the biggest infrastructure investment in NSW national parks' history, delivering $450 million of priority works that benefit the community and boost nature-based tourism across the state.
