More growing families in Shepparton will soon have access to more early parenting services, closer to home.
Minister Horne today announced that construction has started on the new Shepparton Early Parenting Centre.
Located at 6 Evergreen Way, the new early parenting centre will offer free and specialised parenting support for new parents and carers.
Offering support for children from birth up to four years old, the centre will offer families help with sleep and settling, feeding and care, and specialised support for behaviour and development skills.
Staffed by nurses, midwives, early parenting practitioners, play therapists and allied health professionals - families will be able to access expert guidance when they need it most.
Designed to feel like a home away from home, the centre will feature 10 overnight family units, four day-stay places, shared kitchen and dining areas, a multi-purpose room, a playroom, various outdoor spaces and onsite parking.
The site was for the new early parenting centre was chosen for its easy access by car or public transport and is close to local shops and services.
The project is part of the Labor Government's more than $168 million investment to expand the Early Parenting Centre network.
This massive investment is delivering new and upgraded centres right across Victoria.
AW Nicholson Construction has been appointed to build the centre, which is expected to be complete next year.
The Allan Labor Government has delivered Early Parenting Centres in Wyndham, Whittlesea, Ballarat, Bendigo, Casey and Geelong - and have upgraded existing centres in Noble Park and Footscray.
