Works scheduled at Continental Pool - Wollongong

In preparation for planned maintenance works in the Continental Pool on 4 January 2021, Council has lowered the lights today surrounding the popular saltwater pool.

The second phase will be carried out on Monday 4 January, provided there is good weather. This phase will require the closure of the pool and Blue Mile Tramway link (North Beach Pavilion and Brighton Beach between 5am-4pm). The stairway access from Cliff Road will also be closed during this time.

At this time, the light poles will be completely removed and replaced using specialist equipment.

This project has been rescheduled from 17 December when challenging sea conditions prevented the work from being completed.

The work is being undertaken as part of Council's infrastructure renewal program. Due to their proximity to the ocean and the marine harsh environment, the light poles have a limited lifespan at the Continental Pool.

The works are anticipated to take one day, depending on weather conditions. The pool and surrounding pathway will reopen as normal on Tuesday 5 January.

The pool remains open between now and Monday 4 January when the works will be undertaken. The pool will be closed on Christmas Day, 25 December.
