Works to improve parking along High Street Heathcote

The City of Greater Bendigo has commenced asphalt resurfacing works on the parking areas along High Street Heathcote from Chauncey Street to Jennings Street in front of the Barrack Reserve.

City of Greater Bendigo Works Manager Brett Martini said the $170,000 project is taking place to re-surface parking areas adjoining the Highway.

"At the end of the project the parking spaces will be realigned and provide better space between parked cars and street trees with new line marking," Mr Martini said.

"This will enable more room for motorists to enter and exit their vehicles when parking next to the street trees.

"We have chosen this time of the year to undertake this work as it is not peak tourist time or school holidays.

"The work has already commenced and is expected to be completed by Friday June 4 ahead of the Queen's Birthday public holiday in June.

"Car parking on this section of High Street will be unavailable while the work is in progress and the City has notified properties in the vicinity of the works."

The City is also planning to undertake road re-surfacing works on Jennings Street between High and Hospital Streets at the conclusion of the High Street works.
