Yarra Reaffirms Commitment to Community Wellbeing

Yarra City Council

Yarra City Council has endorsed their four-year Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan, a document shaped by evidence and our community's priorities.

This document outlines how we support our community through programs, services, infrastructure and facilities to ensure Yarra is a place that encourages health and wellbeing for everyone.

Yarra City Council Mayor, Cr Stephen Jolly, said it was important that this document was guided by comprehensive research and data.

"Yarra's Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan is informed by the best available evidence on the health and wellbeing of our local community."

"I encourage everyone to look at our recent Health and Wellbeing Profile [ PDF, 5.96 MB] to understand the crucial health trends we are facing as a community to understand why we need to take steps to change them."

Mayor Jolly also noted that the Profile reinforced the challenges

"We are a city with embedded areas of socioeconomic divide," he said.

"There are priority groups within Yarra that sometimes experience an unfair burden of poor health and wellbeing because of broader social issues and barriers, and this plan allows us to help these groups as best we possibly can."

Priority areas within the new Plan were also informed by the feedback and ideas shared with us via extensive community engagement conducted for our 2025–29 Council Plan
