Do you or a young person you know have a creative spark? The 2026 East Gippsland Youth Art Prize is now open, inviting young artists from across the region to share their work, tell their stories and see their ideas come to life in a real gallery space.
Open to people aged 12 to 25 who live, study or work in East Gippsland, the Youth Art Prize is all about celebrating creativity, individuality and youth expression - whether that's through painting, photography, digital art, film or 3D works.
Mayor Cr Jodie Ashworth said the competition is an exciting opportunity for young people to step into the spotlight and showcase their talents.
"This is your chance to put your creativity on display and be part of something bigger," Cr Ashworth said.
"We know there is incredible talent right across East Gippsland, and the Youth Art Prize is about giving young people a platform to be seen, heard and celebrated."
More than just a competition, the Youth Art Prize gives participants the experience of being an exhibiting artist, with selected works displayed at the Brabuwooloong Gallery at The Forge Theatre and Arts Hub in Bairnsdale.
There are also cash prizes up for grabs, including category awards, a People's Choice Award and an overall Judges' Choice prize.
Taking part in the arts can help build confidence, creativity and problem-solving skills - and this is an opportunity for young people to share their perspective with the wider community, outside of school or the classroom.
