Youth Week goes online for 2020

Youth Week is set to look a little different in 2020 with Tamworth Regional Council encouraging those aged between 12 and 24 in the Tamworth region to head online to get involved. The theme for Youth Week in 2020 is "speak up, be involved, get connected, have fun" and with the uncertain times we are currently facing this theme couldn't be better suited.

"Youth Week is normally about bringing together the youth in our region, sharing memorable experiences, connecting them with specific youth services and having fun", said Katey Allwell, Tamworth Regional Council Youth Services Team Leader, "while being together physically isn't an option this year we knew it was important to provide an opportunity for our youth to connect, share, learn and have fun".

Youth Week 2020 in the Tamworth Region aims to provide a platform for the youth in our region to speak up through the "Youth Week Short Stories" compilation; to get involved with online activities including the Youth Week Photo Competition; get connected with other youth and experts with the 'Ask me Anything with the Experts" Facebook sessions; and provide opportunities for the youth in the Tamworth region to have fun, despite social distancing, with activities such as the Youthie Online Movie Night.

"We hope that those who have the opportunity to get involved will and that parents with kids at home will encourage their children to take part in some of the great activities we have organised" said Ms Allwell.

Youth Week is an opportunity for young people to express their ideas and views, act on issues that affect their lives, and create and enjoy activities and events.
