10 charged with drug supply after music festivals, NSW

Ten people have been charged with drug supply offences with two in court today, following police operations at Australia Day music festivals.

Operations at Sydney Olympic Park and Centennial Park involved officers from Central Metropolitan Region and South West Metropolitan Region, assisted by specialist units including the Dog Unit, Licensing Police, and Police Transport Command.

A total of 10 people have been charged with drug supply charges, and a further 47 people have been issued with drug criminal infringement notices, across both locations.

At the Sydney Olympic Park operation, there were 183 people searched with seven people charged with supplying prohibited drugs: five people were granted bail but two are due in court today;

• A 25-year-old man, from Mount Pritchard, has been charged with supply prohibited drug (MDMA), possess prohibited drug, goods in custody suspected being stolen, recklessly deal with proceeds of crime, possess/attempt to prescribed restricted substance, and custody of a knife in a public place. Police will allege he had 100 MDMA tablets in his possession, and,

• A 19-year-old South Australian woman, has been charged with supply prohibited drug (MDMA), and is due to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Sunday 27 January 2019). Police will allege she had 48 MDMA tablets in her possession.

Both have been refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Sunday 27 January 2019).

Others charged were,

• A 17-year-old boy, from Castle Hill, has been charged with supply prohibited drug, deal with property proceeds of crime, and possess prohibited drug. He has been granted conditional bail to appear at a children's court on Wednesday 20 February 2019. Police will allege when the teen was searched they located 579 capsules and $2075 cash.

• An 18-year-old man, from Beverley Park has been charged with supply prohibited drug (MDMA), and possess prohibited drug. He was granted conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on Thursday 7 March 2019.

• An 18-year-old woman, from Greenacre has been charged with supply prohibited drug (MDMA), and possess prohibited drug. She has been granted conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on Monday 11 March 2019.

• A 19-year-old woman, from Marsden Park, has been charged with supply prohibited drug (MDMA). She has been granted conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on Monday 11 March 2019.

• An 18-year-old man from Matraville, has been charged with supply prohibited drug (MDMA). Court and date to be determined.

A total of 16 people have been issued with Field Court Attendance Notices (FCANs) for possess a prohibited drug, and 79 people were ejected, including 30 people for intoxication.

A range of illicit drugs were seized including MDMA and GBH.

Six people were taken to Westmead Hospital due to suspected drug use.

At the Centennial Park operation, three people have been charged with supply prohibited drug offences.

A total of 55 people have been issued with Field Court Attendance Notices, eight have been issued with cannabis cautions and one youth caution has also been issued.

• A 25-year-old Guildford woman has been charged with supply prohibited drug (MDMA), possess prohibited drug (MDMA) and possess prohibited drug (Ketamine). She has been granted conditional bail to appear at Waverley Local Court on Wednesday 20 February 2019.

A range of illicit drugs were seized including MDMA, ketamine, and cannabis.

Eight people were taken to St Vincent's Hospital with five of these people suspected of drug use.
