$15 million for research into mitochondrial disease

The Australian Government is investing $15 million for mitochondrial disease research. Funding is from the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF).

The MRFF's Emerging Priorities and Consumer-Driven Research initiative will support research that helps prevent mitochondrial disease from being passed on to children by their mothers.

Funding was awarded under the 2022 Mitochondrial Donation Pilot Program grant opportunity.
