Transbroome Services Expands to New Locations Across Town

  • New Transbroome bus services to begin 29 November 2026
  • Routes 891 and 892 to complement existing Route 890 services
  • New routes to stop at Broome Airport and Broome Health Campus
  • Cook Labor Government committed to delivering reliable, high-quality public transport services across Western Australia

New Transbroome bus services will hit the road from 29 November, as part of the Cook Labor Government's continued commitment to delivering accessible and affordable public transport across Western Australia.

The Cook Labor Government committed $14.2 million at the 2026-2027 State Budget to continue and expand the Broome town bus service.

This investment has delivered four additional buses, new bus stops, and SmartRider and contactless payment options to make catching public transport across Broome easier.

The existing Route 890 bus will continue to operate on its current alignment, which includes Carnarvon Street and Millington Road, and operate every 30 minutes during the peak tourist season and reduced times during the off-peak season.

New Routes 891 and 892 will operate as complementary circle services on a two-hourly frequency, expanding the bus network's coverage to Broome Airport, Broome Health Campus, Broome North, Roebuck Estate, and more of Cable Beach.

The Cook Labor Government stepped in to provide bus services in Broome after the Broome Explorer Bus folded in August 2025, with further improvements introduced in July this year to make it easier for locals and tourists to catch the bus.

More information about upcoming changes to Transbroome including timetables will be available on the Transregional website closer to 29 November.

As stated by Transport and Major Infrastructure Minister Rita Saffioti:

"We know the people of Broome love this bus service, which is why we've invested to secure its future, and worked hard to ensure these expanded services deliver for the community.

"Broome locals will soon have access to an expanded seven-day bus service, covering more residential areas and important hubs like the Broome Airport and Broome Health Campus.

"It's all part of our commitment to delivering affordable and accessible public transport across Western Australia, including in our regions."

As stated by Kimberley MLA Divina D'Anna:

"Thank you to everyone across our community who took part in the consultation sessions earlier this year to shape our expanded Transbroome bus network.

"I'm very proud to be rolling out bus services to more locations across our community, whether it be residential areas like Roebuck Estate and Broome North, and important locations like the hospital or airport.

"Running more frequent bus services and servicing new locations will make a real difference to local families, providing more opportunities to jump on public transport to get around our beautiful town."
