23 year old SA man charged with possession of child exploitation material

This is a joint Australian Federal Police and SA Police media release.

Detectives from the Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (a partnership between the Australian Federal Police and SA Police's Public Protection Branch) yesterday arrested a 23-year-old man from the southern suburbs of Adelaide for possession of child exploitation material.

The man was granted bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on 1 April.

Members of the public who have any information about people involved in child exploitation are urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

CHILD EXPLOITATION IMAGES, NOT 'CHILD PORNOGRAPHY'

  • Use of the phrase 'child pornography' actually benefits child sex abusers:
  • It indicates legitimacy and compliance on the part of the victim and therefore legality on the part of the abuser
  • It conjures up images of children posing in provocative positions, rather than suffering horrific abuse

Every photograph captures an actual situation where a child has been abused.

This is not pornography.
