246 cannabis plants seized by Wetherill Park Region Enforcement Squad, NSW

A man will face court today on drug charges after 246 cannabis plants were seized during a search warrant in Sydney’s west, NSW Police say.

Strike Force Zambesi was established by officers attached to Wetherill Park Region Enforcement Squad (RES) to target the indoor cultivation of cannabis plants within the south west metropolitan region of Sydney.

Officers attended Leonello Place, Endensor Park, about 4pm yesterday (Wednesday 23 May 2018) and spoke to a 26-year-old man.

Police will allege in court the man was carrying 11 small cannabis plants in boxes, which were immediately seized, and the man was arrested.

During a search of A short time later a search of the home was executed. Police will allege in court 246 cannabis plants were located with an estimated street value of more than $850,000.

The 26-year-old man was taken to Fairfield Police Station.

He was charged with enhance indoor cultivate cannabis fir commercial purpose, cultivate prohibited plant greater than commercial quantity, supply prohibited plant greater than small and less than indictable, possess prohibited plant greater than small and less than indictable, possess prohibited drug, found on/entering/leaving drug premises, and use/consume/waste electricity with authorisation.

The man, who is an illegal immigrant, was refused bail and is due to appear at Fairfield Local Court today (Thursday 24 May 2018).
