$391.3 million to deliver Snowy Alpine potential

NSW Government

The NSW Government has committed $391.3 million to deliver the Snowy Mountains Special Activation Precinct that will enable the region to become a year-round tourism destination and the alpine capital of Australia, following the release of the final master plan.

The master plan outlines the long-term vision across the precinct's 4,879 hectares that includes the Catalyst and Growth precincts in Jindabyne and the Alpine region over the next 40 years.

The precinct now moves into the delivery planning stage that will provide the blueprint for how enabling infrastructure, such as the Southern Connector Road, sewerage and utilities upgrades will roll-out.

Delivery planning will also commence on exciting projects for the community such as foreshore improvements, including shared paths and park improvements close to Jindabyne, a major adventure park, car parking developments to facilitate enhancements on and off the slopes and improvements to the town centre.

The next stages will include further scoping studies and stakeholder and public consultation that will commence later this year and into 2023.
