The accessible beach matting at Town Beach has been well used since being reinstalled, helping more people enjoy easier access to the beach.
To allow scheduled beach cleaning to take place safely during low tide next week, the matting will be temporarily rolled up from Monday 14 September 2026.
Beach cleaning will take place from 4am on Tuesday 15 September and again on Friday 18 September. The matting will then be reinstalled after 10am on Friday, ready for the weekend and the September school holidays.
This short temporary removal allows us to complete important beach maintenance while continuing to provide accessible beach access for our community.

The accessible beach matting provides a firm pathway across the sand, helping people using wheelchairs and mobility aids, as well as people with prams, get closer to the water and enjoy the beach.
