Darwin commuters are encouraged to leave the car at home and get to work by active transport - ride, scoot, skate or walk - this National Ride2Work Day on 15 October 2025.
City of Darwin is proud to host the 25th National Ride2Work Day, organised by The Bicycle Network.
Ride2Work Day is more than just actively commuting, rather it boosts health and wellbeing, saves money, and reduces carbon footprint while creating an active community.
City of Darwin Lord Mayor, Peter Styles said the event is a great reminder than even small changes can have a big impact.
"We want to encourage Darwin commuters to adopt active transport to get around the city, not just on Ride2Work Day, but throughout the year to build a stronger, healthier, and more connected community.
"Our Movement Strategy 2030 supports this by making it easier and more enjoyable for people to get around the municipality by improving pedestrian and shared footpaths, bicycle networks and shared mobility access," he said.
Plan your active commute route and remember to follow the road rules and stay safe, Mr Styles added.
To celebrate, there will be a complimentary 'Ride Thru Brekkie' at Raintree Park, by Smith Street Mall, on Wednesday 15 October between 7:00 am and 9:00 am. The first 50 commuters to arrive by active transport will receive a free coffee.
