A girl has been charged following investigations into a serious assault incident in Wooree last night, Queensland Police say.
At 10.45pm it is alleged a verbal argument broke out between the man and a girl before the argument became physical.
It will further be alleged a call was made to QAS to attend to a 47-year-old man on Sondrio Street, who had allegedly sustained multiple knife wounds to his back.
He was transported to the Cairns Base Hospital for treatment where he underwent surgery overnight.
A 15-year-old girl was located at an address nearby and taken into custody.
She has been charged with one count of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.
The man and the girl are known to each other.
