Ageing well priority for Wellington Shire

Wellington Shire Council would like to know what Ageing Well in Wellington Shire looks like now and into the future.

Older adults contribute greatly to community life and are our fastest growing population groups in Wellington.

It is more important than ever that support services and programs are put in place to support residents to age well, live healthy lives, and be engaged and connected in local communities.

We know that ageing well is a key consideration for our community, and we have a role to play in influencing improved outcomes for the local community and ensuring services meet local needs.

Wellington Shire Council Mayor Ian Bye said, that when we consider what ageing in Wellington will look like, we want to make sure services, programs and our physical spaces allow for everyone to feel welcome, no matter their age.

“I encourage all local residents aged 55 and over, including carers, service providers and family members to have their say in the Ageing Well in Wellington Shire consultation process. This is your chance to share your experience of ageing and highlight the support that you will need to age well.

“We really want to know how you feel about your quality of life, the issues you face when accessing existing support services and what you need to stay healthy and connected as you age.

“We are working pro-actively to lead the way, and build a healthy Wellington for all ages. I am looking forward to achieving the outcomes identified through this consultation process”, Cr Bye said.
