Researchers at Karolinska Institutet and KTH Royal Institute of Technology have developed AI-driven warning technology capable of detecting infections up to 24 hours before symptoms appear.
The technology is particularly crucial for infection-sensitive patients, such as premature babies. "Too many babies die from infectious diseases that could have been treated if they had been detected in time," says Eric Herlenius, Professor of Pediatrics at Karolinska Institutet.
The project, "Explainable Machine Learning for Early Warning Systems," uses sensors to record health data and provide early warnings to healthcare professionals. "The goal is to support doctors, not replace them," says Saikat Chatterjee, leader of the research team.
This innovative technology has the potential to revolutionize healthcare and save lives where every hour counts.
