AID 2022 theme: Spot On

The Annual Introduction Days (AID) for first-year students are to start on Friday, 19 August. Unlike the previous two years, there are no covid 19 measures this year, and new students may participate live in the many activities and parties on the campus and in Wageningen during these six days.

Joris Krol, AID committee chair, reports that 2230 participants have registered. Two hundred mentors will support these new students during the week, focusing on the theme SPOT ON. Krol is enthusiastic: 'It's going to be an epic week laden with fantastic activities that enable the new students to get to know the city, the university and student life in record time!'

A number of regular programme components are featured each year. These include the Campus Games, the Sing-along on Campus and the street theatre in Wageningen city centre. New items on the programme include an obstacle course in collaboration Defensity College prior to the Crazy88. The latter consists of 88 unusual assignments for AID participants. A pub crawl along almost all of the local bars is also included in this year's programme.

Much is organised in Wageningen at various locations in the city and at the Dreijen, but there is also plenty to do on the campus: the Campus Games, AIDrinks, Study day, Workshops, Sing-along and the closing festival on 24 August.

A list of all the activities is provided on the AID-website.

For those AID participants that have not yet succeeded in finding a room or plays to stay in Wageningen, a pop-up camping site is available on the campus. Joris expect some 150 campers.

Non-AID-participants wishing to enjoy some of the AID activities are welcome during the following items on the programme:

  • Open air movie on Sunday 21 August. De Dreijen (20.30-23.00 hrs) (no charge)
