Albanese's Top 8 Hate Remarks in May 2025

UN Watch

UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese abuses her UN mandate to propagate antisemitism and support terrorism, as documented by UN Watch.

Here are some of her latest outrages:

1. Albanese Calls Jews Who Support Israel “the Jewish Brigade,” Says They’re Worse than “Genocide Deniers” in a Now-deleted Tweet (May 6, 2025)

In a now-deleted tweet archived by UN Watch, Albanese hijacks the legacy of the real Jewish Brigade which fought the Nazis in World War II to vilify Jewish supporters of Israel. This adds to the list of Albanese’s history of Holocaust inversion which has sparked condemnation against her.

For example, last year Albanese was rebuked by Deborah Lyons, Canada’s Special Envoy to Combat Antisemitism: “As a former UN official… I am horrified to see a United Nations Special Rapporteur, Francesca Albanese, engage in Holocaust distortion and inversion.”

2. Albanese Pressures the Media to Hide the Fact that a Hamas-run Entity Supplies their Statistics on Gaza (May 3, 2025)

In a tweet, Albanese defends the Hamas-run so-called Ministry of Health and says that it’s “high time that the MEDIA stops referring to the source of the death count as Hamas-run Ministry of Health. The title must be ‘Israel killed 43 Palestinian today’ rather than ‘43 people killed in Gaza according to the Hamas-run Ministry of Health.’’ Throughout her term, Albanese has used her UN position to whitewash Hamas.

3. Albanese Accuses Israel of Using Dogs to “Torture” and “Rape” Palestinians (May 10, 2025)

In a tweet, Albanese asks “How did we get here? How did we let an army announce to the world the destruction of a people, and then level every home, seize every field, shatter every possession they had-even with laughter. How did we let them kidnap, torture, and rape-even with dogs. And now, starve them-even the children.”

Unsurprisingly, Albanese has a history of using her mandate to spread dangerous misinformation against the Jewish state. For this, the UN Spokesperson previously condemned Albanese for sharing false claims: “Ms. Albanese are independent experts-but we want to make sure that everyone associated with the UN also takes special care not to pass along any disinformation.”

4. Albanese Doubles Down on Antisemitic Comment that America is “Subjugated by the Jewish Lobby” (May 4, 2025)

In July 2014, Albanese fundraised for her former employer UNRWA by posting the antisemitic claim that America is “subjugated by the Jewish lobby.” Almost 11 years later, Al Jazeera asked her in an interview to address this statement, where instead of apologizing, she chose to double down: “I was referring to the influence of the AIPAC and in fact what I know today is that the pressure groups are very active in the U.S.…”

For far too long, Albanese has abused her UN mandate to spread antisemitism. As a result, she has been condemned for by France, Germany, Canada, the U.S., and various organizations.

5. Albanese Downplays and Delegitimizes Antisemitism While Rebuking Israel (May 3, 2025)

In a tweet written in Italian, Albanese says that “Israel ranks 112th out of 180 countries in the World Press Freedom Index, and not just because of attacks on journalists, but because disinformation and repressive laws are multiplying and pressure on journalists is growing. I imagine that after the Pope, the UN and millions of people around the world, even the World Press Freedom Index will be accused of antisemitism.”

By jabbing that the World Press Freedom Index will soon be accused of antisemitism for their index ranking of Israel, Albanese is downplaying real instances of antisemitism. It is also unsurprising that Albanese delegitimizes antisemitism coming from the UN as she is most frequent perpetrator of such. This is well documented in UN Watch’s report, “Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing.”

6. Albanese Defends Palestinians Who Refuse to Condemn Hamas (May 16, 2025)

In response to a tweet by journalist Piers Morgan which says, “When someone refuses to condemn Hamas after October 7, then I don’t take anything else they say seriously,” Albanese responds: “When someone feels entitled to ask any Palestinian to condemn the horrors and crimes of October 7-after decades of brutal occupation, dispossession, massacres after massacres, torture and humiliation-I stop taking them seriously.”

In her response, Albanese adds that “some questions should not be asked.” With a history of serving as the worst pro-Hamas apologist at the UN, this is likely a question Albanese would not like to hear directed towards herself.

7. Albanese Again Condemns Ireland for Adopting Leading Definition of Antisemitism (May 9, 2025)

Commenting on a March video of Albanese storming out of an Irish radio interview after the American Jewish Committee was mentioned, Albanese states that “As Israel continues its genocidal assault against Palestinians, was adopting the controversial definition of antisemitism that silences calls for justice, Ireland’s priority?”

For reference, Albanese is referring to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism which is the leading definition used by the Jewish community and has been formally adopted by 46 countries including 26 out of 27 EU member states, Argentina, Australia, Bahrain, Brazil, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Israel, the Philippines, Panama, South Korea, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Uruguay.

Also in March, Albanese went on a rant condemning Ireland for adopting the IHRA definition, calling it “the prime instrument of repression of Palestine solidarity.” In a separate article, Albanese called Ireland’s adoption of definition as “not wise” and also “so un-Irish.”

8. Albanese Embraces Claim that “Zionists are Staging Antisemitic Incidents” (May 30, 2025)

As violent antisemitic attacks across the world continue, Albanese comments on an article claiming that “Zionists are staging antisemitic incidents in the United States.” In apparent agreement with the flawed article, Albanese adds: “Pathetic. How far an ideology can go.”
